HOW TO BOOK YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Navigating booking your wedding photographer can be tricky and nerve-racking but I am here to guide you through the process.
Check their availability.
It's important to check whether the photographer you want to work with is available on your wedding day. If you find a photographer whose work you love, don’t hesitate to fill out a contact form and start the conversation with them.
Choose a photographer who has experience with weddings
If you're looking for a wedding photographer and you want to be sure that they will capture those moments like walking down the aisle for the first time or can capture all the elements of a wedding, you will definitely want to have a photographer who has photographed weddings before.
Ask about their style and portfolio
Find out more about their style and look at photos from previous wedding days to make sure that they share the same vision for your day as you do. If it isn’t clear, don’t be afraid to ask them to describe their style or what feels most important to them on a wedding day.
Find out how they work with couples
If you're looking for a wedding photographer who fits into your vision of the day, make sure that you get along with their personality. Have a video chat and make sure that you feel like they are the right fit to capture your big day. I think that getting along with your photographer and sharing the same vision is so important to creating beautiful imagery.
Book them!
After chatting with your potential wedding photographer and you feel like they are the perfect fit, the next step is to communicate with them to proceed with the booking.
Your wedding photographer will then send you a contract and an invoice for a booking deposit so that your wedding date is secured with them. They will most likely send you other details before your wedding and connect with you on the days leading up to your wedding.
My process up to the Wedding Day
For me, once my couples have booked, I send them a contract and invoice right away. I also send them additional information in a wedding guidebook via email. If an engagement session was included in the package they booked, I will also suggest a time of the year when we should have one. Closer to the date, I will set a date with them for the engagement session.
Following the engagement session and once I have sent them their images, I will check to make sure that they have filled out their questionnaire, check in with them and also see if they want to have a call or zoom session or meet for coffee closer to their wedding date.
It can be scary to ask, but I am always here to answer questions for my couples and love connecting with them and getting to know them before their big day.
If you are looking to book your wedding photographer and have questions, please feel free to contact me. And if you love my imagery and feel like you want to work with me, you can click here to fill out a contact form. I am based out of Grantham, Lincolnshire but regularly cover Leicestershire and Nottingham. I also take on a very limited number of weddings outside of these counties each year so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
