Should We Get Married in Sitges?

I moved to Sitges in 2025. My husband is British, my kids are a little bit of everything, and I arrived here having already photographed weddings across the UK and Europe. I didn’t know this town would completely change what I thought a wedding could look like.

Sitges is a small town. You can walk across it in about twenty minutes. The old town sits above the sea, all narrow white-washed streets and terracotta, and on a clear day — which is most days — the light here does something to everything it touches. Warm, golden, a little bit cinematic. I didn’t realise how much this would affect my work until I started photographing weddings here.

Couples who get married in Sitges tend to choose it for a reason. They’ve been here before. They know the pace of it — the long lunches, the tables that spill onto the street, the way an evening can stretch out for hours without anyone wanting to leave. They’re not looking for a grand castle or a ballroom. They want something that feels real, unhurried, and a little bit sun-drenched.

For photography, that’s a gift.

The light in the early morning and late afternoon is genuinely extraordinary — soft, directional, warm in a way that makes film and digital both respond beautifully. Ceremonies in the old town church or on private terrace venues up in the hills have a quality that I’ve never found anywhere else. And because Sitges is compact, there’s almost always a sea view somewhere close.

If you’re wondering whether Sitges is the right place for your wedding, here’s the honest answer: it depends entirely on what you want. If you want a big production — a hotel ballroom, a hundred guests, a day that runs on military timing — Sitges probably isn’t it. But if you want something intimate, warm, and genuinely beautiful? If you want to feel like you’re actually in a place rather than just using it as a backdrop? I can’t think of anywhere better.

I photograph weddings here every year, and I still look forward to every single one. If you’re considering it, I’d love to talk.
