MY TOP TIPS FOR A CALM WEDDING MORNING!
A wedding morning should be calm and relaxed.
My past bridal experience has taught me just how confusing and hectic the lead-up to your wedding day can be. I have been there - it's very overwhelming leading up to the big day, and before you know it, you're getting up on your wedding day anxious and thrilled. People are coming and going, there's a deadline to meet, and with all your feelings about the day, it's simple to become overwrought. To help you prepare for your wedding day and make it as relaxed, fun, and chill as possible, I've compiled my top tips for a calm wedding morning. It's worth bookmarking this list!
My wedding planning experience from years ago has provided me with a clear picture of how overwhelming the whole process can be. You start to feel the buildup to the big day months before, and the next thing you know, you're waking up on your wedding day anxious and excited. There are so many people coming and going, and you get overwhelmed. To assist you with your wedding-morning preparation, I've gathered my best suggestions to help you relax, have a nice time, and stay focused. It's important to remember this set of pointers!
It is recommend to have an early night.
To ensure you get a good night's sleep before your big day, go to bed a little early the night before! You may have a harder time dropping off due to your excitement and nerves, so having fresh sheets and a calming playlist on your mindfulness app (Buddhify, for example) should help you get some zzz's.
You need to arrange your outfit and accessories before getting dressed.
It's best to have your dress, shoes (remember to remove the stickers from the bottom!), lingerie, and garter, all laid out with the labels removed, so that the photographer can take those crucial detail pictures without disturbing you. You can do this for all the bridesmaids' dresses and accessories, too. This ensures that everything is prepared to go once your hair and makeup are complete, and it also eliminates the disturbance caused by having to move things. For those of you who are bringing a tiny clutch with essentials, here's a handy checklist.
Practice being mindful.
If you practise mindfulness, meditation, or yoga, make sure to set aside some time for it before the wedding. This will be especially beneficial if you are prone to feeling anxious.
It's crucial to eat something
Many brides say they are too nervous or excited to eat in the morning, but eating a healthy, hearty breakfast is critical to keeping you energized throughout the day. A layered breakfast bowl with fresh fruit, natural yogurt, granola, and a calming herbal tea are just what you need to begin the day. Avoid greasy and heavy foods if you are nervous, as they may make you feel queasy and bloated. Request room service the night before if you are staying at a venue or hotel.
You should treat yourself.
Make time in your schedule for some self-care! If you don't have tan, have a hot bath with oils and petals if you desire. Light a few candles, play some chilled music, and take advantage of this moment to relax and recharge. This may assist if your mind is overwhelmed with the demanding details of the day. Take some time after your shower to apply an all-over body moisturiser and allow it to dry.
Planning your hair and beauty appointments wisely can save you time and ensure you get the results you want.
Make sure you time your hair and makeup trials the night before so you know how long it'll take the morning of the wedding. Double-check what your hair and skin should be prepared for the hairstylist and makeup artist beforehand, as you may need to have your hair washed the night before. Ensure you've coordinated a schedule with your hair and makeup artists, and inform your bridal party so they know who will go first. Ensure that you've tested any new beauty products before the big day to ensure there are no last-minute side effects!
Pack some nice outfit preparatory to pretty preparation.
It's fine to wear your favourite comfy PJs when getting ready for the wedding, but if you're hoping to have pictures taken, it's best to wear something a little more presentable.
Choose soothing scents to calm down.
Preparing for your wedding day, have your favourite scent diffused in the room, or a natural oil or candle burning, to create a lovely ambiance as you get ready. After the big day is over, that scent will always bring you back to that morning - and an added bonus!
Just because you're working out doesn't mean you can't enjoy some good tunes.
You can make your own wedding morning playlists or use one of ours. The morning of my wedding, I created a Spotify playlist with sweet, romantic songs that symbolised our bond. Bring a set of portable speakers if you are staying at a hotel rather than getting ready at home.
It's time to start the party!
It's time to raise a glass with your wedding party! Just don't drink too much, or you'll end up with a hangover before you even start your day!
Forget about planning!
Confirm that any vendors, such as hair and makeup professionals or flower and cake vendors, will arrive or deliver items the day before your wedding so you do not have to do any last-minute planning or organising. Make sure that everything is arranged and ready before the wedding if you plan to create some items, set up some flowers, or do some decorating yourself. Before you check the venue or set up anything, do it first. Make sure you have all the cash for any on-the-day vendors in envelopes and ready to go, such as your chief bridesmaid or best man, who will handle it.
Creating an inner circle of calming thoughts and memories can help you stay grounded during panic attacks.
Choosing people who have a calming effect on you if you suffer from anxiety is the best way to surround yourself. Choose your wedding suppliers carefully and ensure that you have a pleasant dynamic with them if you're getting ready in a room with them. Ensure that any other guests are respectful of your time while you are getting ready by having a note on the door. Choose someone in your bridal party or your wedding planner to handle any questions so that you don't have to worry about anything last-minute or to take any pressure off of you so that you may have a fantastic time at your wedding.
It's wise to budget extra time for things like travel, parking, and waiting in line.
You must have plenty of time to spare on your wedding day if timings overrun. You don't want to rush out the door if timings run late! We advise that you be prepared an hour before your ceremony begins. This permits you time to relax and to socialise with your bridal party rather than rushing at the last minute. Add extra time if you are doing a first look with your mother, father, or other half, giving out bridal party gifts, or want to sip bubbly with them before leaving. If you're travelling to your ceremony or taking photos, be sure to leave in good time to account for any traffic or delays on the way.
