FEELING NERVOUS ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY PHOTOS?

Your big day is fast approaching. You start to feel the jitters as everything comes together. The feeling of starting your life together with your partner makes you feel complete and happy, and you are so excited about creating timeless wedding photos! But on the other hand, you consider yourself to be camera shy. You have already chosen a photographer but you are still nervous about the wedding day photos. Well, do not worry, I will let you in on a little secret for both you and your partner so you can relax and feel excited for your big day.

First of all, note that you are not alone. From my experience as a wedding photographer, I have encountered many couples that have felt anxious about wedding day photos. Whether it is a shy bride or a shy groom we are talking about, there is usually someone who does not feel comfortable in front of a camera – and that is okay! If you are a couple who are nervous about the wedding day photos, then you can start by simply talking to your photographer. You will both know that the connection has been made once you have talked through the process, and the photographer has put to rest any concerns you might have.

When it comes to being anxious about wedding day photos, personally, it has helped me plenty to rely on several tricks I have gathered over the years. For example, I usually offer full packages that include engagement sessions. This allows both me and the couple to get to know one another better and relax. Of course, we always meet prior to the session, either in person or via video, to get the tension away! Here are some additional tips that will provide you with a seamless wedding photoshoot for you too:

Talk to your photographer and tell them how you feel: this is especially important in those cases where you want to talk through the style and the expectations initially, and know that one of you is a shy bride or a shy groom. You can talk about overcoming being shy in front of the camera, or you can do an engagement session. Either way, you will get a safe space to relax and see there is nothing to worry about, and it will give you some extra time to click with your photographer.

Laughing is truly the best: an infectious laugh goes a long way! On the big day, step aside together so you can do the wedding photoshoot. If there is still some tension and you can see that you are nervous about the wedding day photos, then try to smile, hug, or just talk to each other. You can even bump bottoms if it will make you more relaxed – something I love to do with my couples!

Ignore your photographer: as funny as it may seem, ignoring the photographer is the best aspect of making the most wonderful wedding photos! You will not go wrong by focusing on yourself and absolutely ignoring the photographer. Plus, at some point, you will go away from your guests for an intimate session where you will completely unwind from the crowds. In these moments you will actually forget that there is a photographer around!

Getting relaxed on your wedding day may seem like a challenge. So I am truly hoping that my little piece of advice here has been enough for those couples who are feeling nervous about the wedding day photos.
